Spinal decompression therapy is a targeted therapy for bulging and herniated disc. These disc levels can be located anywhere in the spinal column because of vertebral misalignments: the vertebra needs to be re-aligned then the area of disc problems decompressed by relieving the intra-discal pressure. This treatment targets the disc or discs that are building up intra-discal pressure on the nucleus. This pressure weakens the collagen fibers, in which, comprise the annular portion of the disc, therefore allowing the nucleus to bulge or herniated at that weakened area.
The spinal decompression procedure creates a vacuum effect allowing for the absorption of the extruded material back into the nucleus. If this condition is left untreated, the disc will continue to extrude until the only alternative may be surgery.

Reverse High Intra-Disc Pressure
When pressure builds up inside the disc, it causes bulging of the jelly-like disc material. With increasing or prolonged pressure, it often leads to a disc bulge or herniation which leaks out material.
The bulge or leaking out of disc material is what puts pressure on the nerves and other structures that cause pain. The pain can travel into the buttocks and down the legs, or the neck and arms, even in the fingers or toes. It can cause numbness, tingling and also lead to dysfunction.
Decompression relieves pain by creating a vacuum- type suction which reverses the high pressure inside the disc (high intra-disc pressure) and draws the bulging or herniated material back into the disc. This procedure is called non-surgical Spinal Decompression and is now available locally.
Are You Qualified?
Our doctors will conduct a thorough initial history, and perform a related physical evaluation along with necessary x-ray's. A MRI may be necessary to help determine exact disc levels. We will then review all data and combine it with any complexities involved. We use this information to make clinical decisions to be certain you (the patient) qualify for the decompression procedure.
Treatment Program
The primary goals of the doctor is to make an accurate diagnosis and thoroughly inform the patient of their condition so they completely understand their options for care. It takes into consideration the diagnosis, severity of the condition, level of risk, accompanying factors and any complexities that may be involved.
A typical treatment program is spread over a few weeks.
Additional support is available if necessary in the form of nutrition, special 'Tens' (transcutaneous electrical nerve stimulator) unit to be worn at home to block pain impulses from the nerve and may be necessary short term to help aid in relaxing tight muscles.
We will provide instructions for home spinal rehabilitation and recommend any restrictions of work or
activities as part of our patient education program.
Patients come to us for the relief of pain so that they are able to live their lives to the fullest and that is exactly what we provide them with.

Common Questions
| Q. |
What is the Decompression Program? |
| A. |
Decompression is an effective spinal rehabilitation program for conditions of the spine (primarily the neck and low back), with focus on acute, chronic and severe cases. The program consists of FDA approved non-surgical spinal decompression therapy focused on decompressing the discs to reverse high amounts of pressure built up inside the discs in order to take the pressure of the nerves. Support is provided to assure that the patient is comfortable during care. And yes, we also work closely with your family doctor, surgeons, and any other health care provider. |
| |
| Q. |
What Conditions do the Decompression Program Treat? |
| A. |
Disc problems of multiple varieties such as bulging discs, degenerated discs, herniated discs or ruptures and protruding discs of cervical and lumbar spine (neck and low back), as well as joint arthrosis, facet syndrome, sciatica, grade 1 and 2 spondylolisthesis and stenosis. |

| Q. |
What is the Cost for Decompression Therapy? |
| A. |
Good News! Compared to surgery, the cost is reasonable and we provide everyone with the opportunity to receive decompression therapy. We have eliminated the worry of finances by offering flexible payment plans and we also offer financing at low interest rates so everyone can now afford scientific discovery if non-surgical Spinal Decompression. Patients can now take as long as they like to pay for their care. During your consultation, the doctor will determine if you are a candidate and fully explain to you how much it will cost before starting care. |
